OVERVIEW

It’s time to get ready for day camp! The what, when, why and how to prepare for the ultimate summer day camp experience.

 

Ages

Summer At The Ridge welcomes children age 4 entering kindergarten (in the upcoming school year), through the age 12, (children coming out of sixth grade the previous school year).

We pride ourselves in running an amazing program that our children, parents, and staff are thrilled about. Communication

To keep you informed about weekly Summer At The Ridge events, pool trips and field trips, an informative email is sent out prior to each camp week. You can also receive daily texts to your cell by simply texting “SATR” to 77222. This will be available at the start of camp.

Summer At The Ridge admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to children at the center. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in the administration of its instruction, admissions, or other childcare administrated programs.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Children should dress and bring with them items necessary for the scheduled events of their camp day. Don't forget your lunch box. On pool days your child will need a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, and/or a change of clothing. Please label all of your children's clothing and items.

Please leave iPods, headphones, gaming gear, and favorite toys at home. Use of a cell phone is permitted with staff permission and only to contact parents.

The most important item needed for camp each day is a healthy attitude ready to discover new things while interacting with others.

Lunch Program & Snacks

Campers need to bring their lunch to camp each day. Pack plenty of food that does not require refrigeration or heating. We recommend quick and healthy foods, a healthy snack for the morning and remember to pack a water bottle each day. Morning and afternoon snacks are provided by camp.

Please let us know if your child has food allergies and/or dietary restrictions on their registration form under medical information.

NUT FREE: We are a nut free program. Do not send any food items that contain any type of nuts or that are manufactured in a plant that produces nut products.

DRESS CODE

Children are encouraged to dress comfortably and appropriately to the activities of camp and to our standard of modesty. Sneakers are preferred for most events for safety reasons. Flip flops, pool shoes, or sandals are OK to wear for pool trips only. Modest shorts and tops are common attire.

 

For pool trips; girls' bathing suits that expose midriff and boys' Speedos are inappropriate. Swim shoes for pool trips are recommended since the bottom of most pools can be rough and injure soft little feet.

 

Pool Safety

Summer At The Ridge staff takes pool safety very seriously. We understand the potential risk with water activities and we prepare our staff to provide quality supervision and care. All children must complete a swim test administered by pool lifeguards before being permitted to swim in deeper water. Children will swim in water depth appropriate to their size and swimming ability.

Children who have not learned to swim will stay in either the fenced in 1-foot pool or in the 3-foot pool while wearing a life jacket. PLEASE NOTE: Life jackets are available at the pool (you cannot bring your own life jacket- the parks will not allow it).

We also recommend campers use a rash guard water shirt as protection from harmful UV rays.

Camp T-Shirt

A Camp t-shirt will be given to all campers, if registered by June 3. Why? Because they look super and we like our kids looking sharp; they bring uniformity and camaraderie to camp trips, and they help our staff by making it easy to locate and supervise our campers at all times.  Children are required to wear their SATR t-shirt on all field trips.  If a camper arrives at camp without their SATR t-shirt on a required day, another will be issued at a charge of $10.00.
