The staff at Summer At The Ridge includes professional educators, university graduates and students, high school students, and counselors in training (CIT).
Our staff is well trained in safety practices, and our lead staff is certified and trained with Ministry Safe and safety procedures (CPR, First Aid, Medication Administration, and EpiPen procedures). Summer At The Ridge is licensed and approved by the state of Virginia as a religious exempt organization. All Fire and Health Inspections, student/staff ratios, staff health and background screenings meet and exceed all code requirements.
As a group, our staff is a strong team and they make our summer day camp a special place for kids.

Summer At The Ridge firmly believes that a child's camp experience is only as good as the talent and commitment of our staff. We are committed to hiring only the best employees who are uniquely qualified to carry out the mission we have set forth.
We have three levels of staff:
Adults: 18 and older, background checked, paid
High School: currently in 9th-12th grade, paid
Middle School: currently 6th-8th grade, volunteer
All of our staff, except our volunteer middle schooler volunteers, are background checked. This background includes: identity verification, sex offender registry check, global watchlist check, national criminal records check, and county criminal records check. This background check is annual and prior to hiring.
All staff, including middle schooler volunteers, requires references, which are checked and verified prior to hiring. In the past, we have invited a couple rising 6th graders to serve as counselors-in-training (based on maturity and certifications).
